What is Weidian?
Weidian (微店, "micro shop") is a Chinese platform where individuals and small businesses open simple online shops, usually managed from a phone and shared through WeChat and other social apps. Compared with Taobao it's lighter: shops are smaller, search across shops is limited, and many buyers arrive through a shop link someone shared rather than by browsing. Listing links look like weidian.com/item.html?itemID=….
| Weidian | Taobao | |
|---|---|---|
| Shops | Small, often single sellers | Millions, from tiny to large |
| How buyers find items | Shared shop and item links | Marketplace search |
| Seller track record visible | Limited | Detailed ratings and sales counts |
| Superbuy support | Yes, paste the link | Yes, CN¥0 service fee |
How to buy from Weidian through Superbuy
- Get the item linkCopy the item address containing itemID=, or use the share button in the Weidian app. Our link converter cleans messy share text.
- Paste it into SuperbuySuperbuy markets itself as a Taobao, 1688 and Weidian agent and reads Weidian links from its search bar.
- Check the fee lineSuperbuy's published fee table lists Taobao, Tmall, JD and 1688 as free and doesn't name Weidian, so confirm the fee on the order confirmation before paying.
- Add a remarkWeidian sellers often have options described only in the listing text; say exactly what you want.
- Check the QC photosWith less seller history to rely on, the warehouse photos matter more than usual.
What to watch for on Weidian
- Thin seller history. There's less public data on a Weidian shop than a Taobao one. Prefer shops with visible sales and reviews.
- Stock and dispatch time. Small sellers may take longer to ship to the warehouse, or be out of stock without saying so.
- Branded goods. Weidian is widely used by sellers of unlicensed branded goods. Superbuy's policy on infringing items means such orders can be refused or cancelled, and customs can seize them. Stick to genuine or unbranded goods.
- Returns. Returns depend on the seller agreeing; reject problems from the QC photos while the item is still in China.
Why Weidian links show up in spreadsheets
Because Weidian shops are shared by link rather than found by search, spreadsheets and creator lists are full of Weidian links. The same checks from our spreadsheet guide apply: does it import, is the price the same, does the shop have a real track record, and do the options still exist?
Finding more from a Weidian shop
Because Weidian search is limited, the easiest way to see a seller's range is to open the shop from any of its item pages; the shop page lists its other products and categories. Many Weidian sellers also post new items to WeChat or social media first. Once you know a shop you trust, save the shop link rather than individual item links, which go stale quickly.
Paying for Weidian items as a buyer abroad
Weidian checkout is designed for Chinese payment methods such as WeChat Pay and Alipay, which is the main reason buyers abroad go through an agent. Through Superbuy you pay for each order by card, Wise, Alipay, WeChat Pay or UnionPay (PayPal was removed in 2024), and Superbuy pays the seller in yuan. Remember that the exchange rate applied when you pay is part of the real cost.
Shipping Weidian items home
Once in Superbuy's warehouse, Weidian items are treated like any other: 90 days of free storage, consolidation with Taobao or 1688 items, and the same shipping lines. Combining shops into one parcel avoids paying the expensive first weight step twice.
Weidian FAQ
Can Superbuy buy from Weidian?
Yes. Superbuy markets itself as a Taobao, 1688 and Weidian agent and reads Weidian item links pasted into its search bar. Its published fee table lists CN¥0 only for Taobao, Tmall, JD and 1688, while other platforms are charged 10% capped at CN¥20, and Weidian isn't named either way. Check the fee line on the order confirmation before you pay.
What is the difference between Weidian and Taobao?
Weidian (微店) is a platform of small, often single-seller shops, usually run from a phone and shared by link through WeChat and social apps. Taobao is a huge searchable marketplace of millions of shops with detailed ratings and sales counts, and it carries a CN¥0 fee through Superbuy. Use Weidian for a specific shop you trust, and Taobao for discovery and comparing sellers.
Is Weidian safe to buy from?
It depends on the individual shop. Weidian shows less public data than Taobao, so prefer sellers with visible sales and reviews, add a remark describing exactly the option you want, and treat Superbuy's warehouse QC photos as your main check. Returns depend on the seller agreeing, so reject problems while the item is still in China rather than after it has shipped.
Why do Weidian links break?
Weidian sellers remove and relist items often, and small shops can sell out without updating the listing. If a link won't import into Superbuy, first clean it with our link converter, which rebuilds the standard weidian.com/item.html?itemID= address. If it still fails, the listing has probably gone. Open the seller's shop page and look for the item under a new link.
Can I combine Weidian and Taobao items in one parcel?
Yes. Once Weidian items reach Superbuy's warehouse, they're handled like Taobao or 1688 purchases: 90 days of free storage, then CN¥0.10 per item per day up to 180 days, and the same shipping lines. Combining shops into one parcel means you pay the expensive first weight step only once. Wait until everything has arrived, then ship it together.
Can I pay a Weidian seller directly from abroad?
Not easily. Weidian checkout is designed for Chinese payment methods such as WeChat Pay and Alipay, which is the main reason buyers abroad use an agent. Through Superbuy you pay for each order by card, Wise, Alipay, WeChat Pay or UnionPay, and Superbuy pays the seller in yuan; PayPal was removed in 2024. Pay per order rather than keeping money in your account.
How do I find other items from a Weidian shop?
Weidian's cross-shop search is limited, so go through the shop itself: open it from any item page to see its other products and categories. Many sellers post new items to WeChat or social media first. Once you've found a seller you trust, save the shop link rather than individual item links, which go stale quickly, then paste each chosen item into Superbuy.
How do I clean a Weidian share link?
Paste the whole share text into our link converter. It picks out the itemID and rebuilds the standard weidian.com/item.html?itemID= address, dropping app clutter and agent wrappers. Paste that clean link into Superbuy's search bar, choose options, and add a remark if the listing only describes some options in its text. Always order from the clean version of the link.
